Cant have more then one Style? vB4 Bugs like crazy

For some reason i have not been successful installing 2 or 3 styles in vB4. I upload one and for that to work I have to set it at Default, and what ever style I add it use the CCS and even images from the other style so there is no way to get this done.

Another thing I noticed is vB4 have bugs like you never imagine. The database goes to :erm: eaw.. Is the 3rd time alrady I fix tables in the data base caused by vB4.

I was a happy camper with vBulletin until I upgrade to vB4.

Anyone have an idea why this is happening? I mean IP.Board I tried and is not buggy like vB is right now, I hope they fix this one day because they are climbing the hill on this one.

At least I want to fix the style bug. Can any one help me out on this one?

never had trouble showing differant style you just have to enable them in user so that they have the option then they should have the option to change from default, but if this option isnt turned on they wont have an option and you would have to make what ever style you want default like your describing

that is not the problem though, is every style I put in forum the images from new style dont show up, is shows half new and half default style

Any ideas

Personally, I haven't yet bothered with any styles in vb4. Though my members are happy to get some new colors now with the Style Generator.

Missing images sounds like a server issue. You put them in the wrong place, or the style is older and not compatible. And if you're getting db corruption on a regular basis clearly you have much larger issues than bugs in vb4.

I'm having the exactly the same problem, well atleast I think I am.

Whats happening is

If the default style is Style1

and you pick from the drop down to use Style2

It decides to make its own pathetic hybrid between them. So it uses the images from Style2 that you just picked, but uses the css from Style one.

So you just get a bodged up theme.

Happening here, too. Any fixes yet?

I have always had problems picking the non-default style in Chrome. If I change styles, when I move to a different page, it reverts back to the default style.

I am trying to have a forum where different sections of the VB have different colors. Eg - women red and men's black.

I have the themes installed fine and I have the forums set to what theme they should use, but it's buggy as ever. Sometimes the colors hold over to pages where they shouldn't be. Sometimes the top half of a page is one theme and the bottom half another. Sometimes just one element in the page is using the old theme. I'm also having issues with themes reverting - using chrome and ie but mostly with chrome.

Is this just a known issue with Vbulletin?

Oh yeah I'm using 4.0.7

I've been talking to vbsupport about this same issue and as a result we have found a few bugs with it that they will fix.

I found a way to do exactly what you want though.
  • Change any CMS section and/or forum area to a new style.
  • Make sure in adminCP settings - options -- style and language options --- in there, make sure it's set to "allow users to change styles"
  • Then go to the Style manager. Make sure only the default style has a tick by it.

Then when people move around your site it will change to the style you've set for each area.

Hope that helps!

This is horrible. I just paid for a license, and now my site is ruined because of this.

And there is no fix?

I tried above method, still no good.

I posted about it on vbulletin.com as well.
