Forum automatically logging user(s) off

I have a problem on my forum, it keeps automatically logging users off. I'm getting a lot of complaints from users, saying that can't stay logged in for more than 5 minutes without being automatically logged off.

I'm using vBulletin 3.8.4 Patch Level 2.

Sounds so simple but are they checking the box to remember me?

And what is your session timeout set to? And, do you allow users to browse your site using both www.yoursite.com and just yoursite.com? If so, what is your cookie domain set to?

You also might want to temporarily switch the template you are using to test. I remember there being issues with a template I was using once that would screw this up.

Thanks for all the replies.

- I'm using the default vbulletin theme.
- Session timeout is set to 900. I believe that's the default.
- Users can view the site either www.mysite or just the http://mysite

I don't understand how it is just a handful of users having this issue.
I asked them to clear out their cookies/cache files and they still claim to have the issue.
I updated the usernames, checked if anything needed repairing, checked the settings on their account...

I'm too sure that this may be an issue on their side, but it's weird that 3 different people from various locations are having the same problem with my site.

If a user logs in at yoursite.com and then there is a link to www.yoursite.com and you do not have the cookie domain setup properly, then they will show as not logged in when they click the link to www.yoursite.com

Okay thank you. I looked into my AdminCP. I have the path set to (blank) and also at the bottom it is checked for custom path with .mysite.

I removed path and put .mysite and unchecked the custom path box and left the text area blank.

Was that correct?

This is my first time using VB.

You want to have your Cookie Domain set to ".yoursite.com" (no quotes, but note the period at the beginning).
