what's new everywhere

Has anyone thought of a what's new page with all areas covered, preferably via widgets - one for the groups, one for posts, one for blogs and events?? Having to click into each area separately is a major interface fail.

Kersti,

I agree with you totally. If What's New is such a featured item on the menu it seems poor that it doesn't really show what's new, just what's new in one or two limited ways.

Saying there is nothing new when it could/should be displaying new bliog messages, group messages, and other new items seems very poor as you say.

I'm assuming they are working on fixing it and that the current version is just a first attempt. We need to be able to choose what is searched and shown for What's New don't we... so we can have one item or all items depending on our needs. A setting for since last visit or in last 24 hours or period of choice would also be neat.

The system should also let us control the menu items of course, and turn off or on things like What's New, turning it off and moving the sub headers it would show to another menu item while it works the way it does etc.

I don't suppose there's anyone who would do a mod for it????

Kersti,

I hope someone says yes.

As you said at the start of your thread, it is a 'major interface fail' point and they really do need to fix it for everyone. Nobody anywhere can think how it is now is the best that can be done with it.

Changing the link to point to a new page and packing that with widgets is probably something thousands of VB CMS users could do etc.. but really the main software should be offering a proper system for What's New already, and it needs to be fixed pretty urgently.
