hoq do i disable images from appearing in the threads?

hey vb.org
i want to know if there is a trick to disable all images from my visitors and have an option replacing those images to enable if wanted

just like gmail when you receive an emails with images you have the choice to enable or disable images from appearing

i just realize that images may affect the page speed

any ideas
