Help please

Hi

There is something which i cant understand and its very strange

When i am in then admincp and i want to check an IP address iam using

Search IP Addresses then

Find Users by IP Address ( then i put the Ip i want to check and then

Depth to Search 2

Then the system is showing me may be 2 or more users with the same IP.

And i know for sure that this is impossible.

Even me as an admin its shows that i have also 3-4 other account !!

If i used Depth search 1 then its only me.

CAn someone please expain what is goging on.1

BEacuse fro this reason I banned people beacuse iam thinking that they have multiplie accounts.

Maybe your searching deep, which is showing you IP Ranges.

People who are near you.

Lots of users have dynamic IPs. You ought to see how many IPs come up when I do a search on myself. And, occasionally I get a hit on another user who got that IP some other time. You will especially see this if you search on a user that uses AOL!

Hi Lynne

Then how can we prevent double registrations

Then users that they were ban maybe they are real users !!

What is a dynamic IP ?

Lynne 05-02-2010 02:05 PM

I've never tried to prevent double registrations, so I can't help you there.

A dynamic IP just means it changes often. For AOL users, every time they connect to the internet, they have a different IP. Mine just changes every few days. Some ISPs don't like you to have a static IP since that means you could conceivably host a website.

Another funny or strange thing was 3 users with the some Ip were connected at the same time on the forum

How is that possible !!!!!

If they are all from the same house, that will happen. If you are logged into your site all from the same computer, but different browsers, it will happen.
