Thread Prefix in V4

hey everybody, i've been looking around for a while now on this board trying to find a guide to help understand how to get "Prefix for Forum Status Images" to work. Currently, i have tried by uploading 2 files named "forumA_forum_new.gif" and "forumA_forum_old.gif" to my statusicon folder on my ftp. i then assumed all i had to do was to type "forumA_" in the prefix for the thread i chose, and it would appear on my main page, but whatever i try, no images appear. what am i doing wrong? i really dont get it :confused:

What do you want to do? As far as I know, the prefixes and the status icons have nothing to do with each other.

You can change your status icons easily by overwriting the default ones with your custom icons in your folder.

The prefixes are for being displayed in front of the threads, you can change these in your admin panel under "thread prefixes". Then you can choose them when you create a new thread, to display things like "solved: 'threadtitel'".

nah, i dont mean thread prefix for topic categories. you should be able to costumize the icons for each main thread in your forum, being able to change when new and old messages appear and such. but i cant get it to work, even thought i do what vB tells me to do.

Quote:

Forum Status images are usually shown alongside the forum in a forum listings to indicate the read status.

This prefix must only contain alphanumerical characters, though the following are also allowed - _ / ., a folder name is also acceptable to be placed within the status icon directory.

The following images are currently in use for status icons, you will need to create images with the specified prefix to match.

* forum_link.gif
* forum_new.gif
* forum_new_lock.gif
* forum_old.gif
* forum_old_lock.gif
