Impex migration

Hi, I'm wanting to know if I can merge a 3.7 forum into a 3.8 forum, using Impex?

I think that it would be best if both forums were the same version. Upgrade first the 3.7 forum to 3.8 and then merge them. otherwise you might have conflict due to the db differences.

Well thats what I'm wanting to do..
I have a forum thats using 3.7.3 & I'm wanting to upgrade it to 3.8.4.. But i want to keep all users/posts/threads etc... I was just wondering if it is possible to do that with Impex?

To upgrade your forum it would be best to do it by running the upgrader instead. Also you might want to upgrade to 3.8.5. btw as it is always best to keep up to dated with the latest version, security wise.

Does impex actually do merging?
I was told it only converts a DB to vbulletin on a clean forum, meaning loss of all previous data.

I'd like to merge two 4.0.2 forums, similar to the thread starter (just on different versions).
I've posted a thread specifying a brief outline of how i'd do the merge, but if impex can do this for me then there is no need.

I think so. Personally I haven''t used it to merge 2 vb forums but I have seen several posts here and at vb.com where users have reported merging of 2 vb forums via the Impex system.
