help with SPAMMERS
 

i am completely new to vbulletin and by the time i realized that it was much harder then my skills could handle i was already in over my head. so if anyone could advise me that would be great.

i turned on all the registration security functions on vbulletin but spammers keep invading my board. always posting about sex and viagra. i erase the post and ban the poster but someone else always comes in about an hour later.

does anyone have any suggestions of know if i did something wrong

I have the same problem with the spammers .I have a forum about Banjos ,but every day I get spammers Posting about SEX, Drugs, and much more.. they have to join a banjo site to leave a post about some Crap that has nothing to do with banjos. WTF !! How can I keep theses jerks OUT...??

Simply use any Question and Answer during registration. Do not use Image Verification as that has been cracked.
AdminCP>Settings>Human Verification Manager

Also you can make it so only members above a post count can post links or send pm''s.

Ummm well you could download some mods from here vbulletin.org because I know there are some they check IPs and stuff like that which makes them really useful.

it helped us out allot ( currently 1400 registration attempts are blocked cause of they used a know spam e-mail/ ip / Nickname)

thanks for all the input, i turned on question and answer and i downloaded that mod that owning_y0u suggested so we ll see if everything works.

Question + Ansver = ftw..

image verification = crap..


Just remember to update/remove/cycle your questions sometimes..
