Deleted Posts go to a 'trash bin'/'graveyard'
I used to use IPB, and this was a function I liked. Rather than posts being physically deleted, deleted posts were automatically moved put to a forum to be reviewed for deletion at a later date.
I just accidentally deleted an important post, and am wondering if there is a mod or change I can make to do this for vBulletin. |
Only admins can 'hard' delete a post. And on our forum, only myself - the super admin - has that permission. All other deleted posts are retained.
So unless you chose to 'hard' delete the post, it's still there and may be undeleted. |
Even with a soft-delete, I have to go thread by thread and find them, so I'd rather have a forum that they go to so they are all in one place to review for full deletion.
|
Just set-up a hidden forum with viewing permissions only for yourself and/or your mods and move troublesome threads or posts there.
Or have it viewable, but closed to posting. |

Oh cool! What an odd place to hide something like that. I've got 1560 deleted posts going back to 3/2007 which I guess is when I converted to vbulletin. I'm still not going to hard delete any of them though.
This is why I hang out here - learn something new all the time. |
