Skins in VB4

Just a quick question but how do you get skins to work in VB4?

I used to have 3.8.4 & could do it easily, I've recently upgraded to 4.0.2.

If I can link you to this thread, that is a skin I'd like to use (but I've tried plenty of others) but I upload the files via ftp, import the xml, but all that happens is the banner appears but nothing else.

A chap on that thread has the exact same problem as me & supplies screenshots. (He doesn't get given a solution though - That I can see anyway)

Is there something simple I'm doing wrong? I upload the files to where it says (For my forum that is forum/images/skin_name) & import the xml via the ACP.

There is no setting I'm missing? No option I'm not enabling or anything?

Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Although I've taken the skins back out at the moment (Obviously as they're not working ;) )

Thank you, but they're not working either.

I took the grey one as an example, uploaded the xml & have set it as the forum default skin.... If you click the link to my forum you'll see that it is still the vb default skin.

I'm really stumped as to what I'm doing wrong.

yes, yes!!!

I just changed it to the forum default but my view was still the default VB skin.

My friend said it had changed so I closed my browser down, ran ccleaner, loaded back up & it had changed.

Could this be what was going wrong with the other skins I've tried? Surely not :D

I'm going to go & try one now..... Thank you for your help so far anyway, you've been great

I don't know how you've managed it, but it's working now :D

I'm not even sure what, if anything I've done differently.

Well, when I was testing them before I didn't make them the forum default, I just went on my & my friends profiles & selected it manually that way.

Whereas just I set them as the forum default so that you could view them.

Could that have been the problem? They don't work on individual profiles, only the forum as a whole?

Whatever the reason, thank you ever so much. I've spent about the last fifteen hours trying to figure this out :D
