Question about table limit
I read that while vbulletin itself doesnt have a post limit, the tables are limited by the file size which is 4GB on linux, So basically it seems that there is a post limit.
I asked vb support about this they said: "Yes, the limit is 4GB. And when you reach it, your forums will not be able to accept new posts. I am not aware of any workaround for this. Sorry." currently I have a forum with post table at 1.5G so eventually in far future 4G will be reached (unless I prune posts) So is there really no work around for this limit? for example this vbulletin forum has 128,000,000 posts which I'm sure is a lot more then a 4G table, so obvioulsy there must be some way: http://forums.offtopic.com/ |
is this limitation 4 a single table or for whole database?

single table (Since each table is stored as file and files cannot be more then 4gb, i understant)

It will depend on the operating system/settings and the storage engine used. This could best be asked at hte MySQL support forums.
