connect connect to vbulletin database anymore

Hi,

as of today we cannot access our forums.. we get the following error:

Error establishing a database connection

I can still access our database via phpmyadmin.. but somehow the forum directly lost/looses its connection.. I did receive numerous errors past days/weeks from the database .. but have been unable to solve them..

anyone an idea on how to repair this?
