Forum Getting hit by spammers

Noticed over the last 2 weeks my forum really getting hit hard by spammers ... seems to have ocurred after I upgraded to 4.0

Looks like they are getting past the captcha image verification and they are confirming their registration ok via email.

Then they come in the board edit their profile to have ads in their and then they begin to post. The weird thing is their posts are somewhat relevent to the threads they are replying to. Sometimes they dont make sense but sometimes they do believe it or not.

Anyone else seeing this?

Yeah I hear they made software called allsubmitter or something like that, which will auto post to Vbulletin...

I have not found it yet but there used to be a plugin for vb3 that would allow you to make sure all newbs could not post any links without a certain number of post first...

Anyone knows where the hack or plugin is please give us a link

James

I have used this one on my forum
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...t=prevent+spam

It prevents users from using specific words until they have "x" amount of posts. So i use the field like www, and http to prevent xrated images and undesirable links. If they do put one of these words into their posts without having the designated amount of posts the thread or post is placed into moderation for approval or denial.

The problem I am having right now is they must of found a way to get around this because they are putting their ad links into their signature

The mod you linked doesn''t affect the signature but the posts only. If you want to make it so users above a certain post count can have signatures, have a look at my mod. I coded it yesterday just for this kind of cases as my forum was hot hard by those wierd spammers as well and since I coded that mod I don''t have that problem anymore. i.e. spams in signatures.

Have a look here. Hopefully it will come in handy to you as well.

I also use this to stop 99% of the spammers too.

Did you set it up to have to post x amount of threads before posting links? What about using post #7 link I posted. I have yet to be hit with that mod installed.

Yes I did set it .... As for the one on #7, its a security risk that I am not willing to take. Thinking about having a new mod created for this that stops them at the front door...
