error message

I am want the username checked and pop up the error message if it is wrong：
But the error message always blank, i copied other error massage, it showed up, but when i changed to my own one, it disappeared.
using this:
alert('{vb:rawphrase fill_out_both_password_fields}');

what should i do?

Did you create such a phrase in the correct phrasegroup?
