Question

Is it just me or am I seeing an increase of new members necromancing really old threads to make no contribution to the forum?

Also, this forum has been here for a really long time (like a whole decade), yet it's not a big board forum (over 3 mil posts)? Other forums manage to get big board status in just 2-3 years, yet it's taking nearly forever for it to happen on vb.com and vb.org?

1. Just you I think.

2. Whats your point exactly ? (a million posts a year is extremely rare).

(and where did 3 million posts as a definition of a Big Board come from ?).

You need to actually submit your name to the big board site, if that is what you are talking about. Right now, unless you pay them, they won't even look at your submission. Many forums either don't care about big board status or have submitted their urls and big boards hasn't gotten to the submission yet (cuz they didn't pay).

I dont think he means Big Boards (.com) as we are on there ;

Ah, well then, I have no idea what he is asking about.

I'm sure I read somewhere that 3 million posts constituted being a big board forum.

And I've had to report several newbie user posts for bumping really old threads. It's like their first post is to necromancy a thread.

I haven't noticed this. It may be they're just doing what is expected of them - searching for the problem before starting a new thread.

vBulletin doesn't have to pay. lol its a commercial site. Why do you think big board is "important" for vB.org?

Marco van Herwaarden 02-28-2010 09:47 AM

Big board is not important to vBulletin.org at all. Where did you get that impression?

Speysider 02-28-2010 10:30 AM

Well, being a big board can give you some sort of pride at getting to that height and let's people know that this is a very active forum.
