How do I create a 100% width header using background image?

Right now, the standard vB4 header is fixed width. I would like to keep the doc_width of my forums fixed, but I want the header to be 100% width similar to my homepage (which I'm attempting to recreate).

Please see the attached images and you can see samples of both. I want the black background to be 100% width on the forum. Right now, you'll notice the light grey on each side of it.

well there are a few ways you can do that , do you have a link to your site , maybe i can help like that, but what i see ,is having a body_background image , to expand-X , and just have the forums have regular width without left and right borders...
