Forum migration combined with a move.
 

Let me see if I can explain this right.

I am going to change from SMF to vB and also move at the same time. If this is possible.

Here is the situation. I have a dedicated server and I hired someone to build several sites for me. I am doing this one myself.

Instead of creating a different account things were done as subdomains and add on domains.

I am a novice at this by the way.

I want to get the forum into it's own account on the server.

Here is how it looks now.

Account:
Domain
subdomain
subdomain
add on domain *forums*

Here is what I think I need to do.

Create a test account domain name to build the new forum on. Move a copy of the files needed as I need them. When I am happy with the results with the new forum then figure out how to make the addon domain name the one for the new account.

Ok, tell me where I am thinking wrong? And the right way to go about doing this.
