[BB Code] World of Waracrft Blizzard 'blue' quote
1 Attachment(s)
This is my first ever 'mod' I have posted here, so I hope it's in the correct place!
This BB code allows your forum members to create authentic looking quotes from the World of Warcraft forums from 'blues' (That is to say, blizzard staff that always post in a blue text color) I see no reason why this BB code would not work in any vb 3.x or 4.x version, but it's only been tested on 3.8.4 by myself. I got the idea when looking at some other BB Code that let you create 'warnings' that look a bit like vB notices. All it was, was a div box with a border and an icon at the start, and the text the user puts in, so I thought I could do somehing similar to emulate the look of quotes you see posted on various fan sites about world of Warcraft. Installation:
Job done. Should look like the preview I have attached at the bottom. Your users can now have hours of fun creating fake patch notes for WoW and posting them on your forums to scare others! :D. Also if you use some kind of CMS that accepts the vB BB Code (e.g vB Advanced), you could now quote blues on your news items. Footnote: I'm god aweful at CSS, and the above was put together by looking at various CSS examples and a lot of trial and error. So there is probably a cleaner way of achieveing this that uses better code. If anyone wants to post any improvements, please feel free. |
FAQs
Q: Me, or my users are using internet explorer, and we don't see the 'rounded corners' like in your screenshot? A: As of writing IE does not support CSS rounded corners. The round corners are made by CSS. Sorry, I can't do anything about this. Q: I have a WoW fansite, can I just use this to just replace vB's default quote code and use it for all my quotes? A:Possibly, but I haven't looked into this myself, as I don't want this. I'm not sure I have the know how to do this anyway. Q: There's already a mod for this here? A: Yes there is, but that developer looks to of taken the icon from another website to use in their mod and also looks to of used some of thier CSS to make his mod. I don't know if they had permission to do that or not. So I made this icon and CSS myself. Plus, looking at the screenshot, that other mod does not seem to include the text where you see the person who is quoted at the top. I made this myself so I know I'm on legaly firm ground, so I thought I would share it anyway. Q: How do my users use this BB code? A: they use it like so: [bz=Name of one quoted goes here]The 'blue' text goes here[/bz] |
Perfect. Installing.
Nice job. |
followed instructions but nothing shows up

Are you using it on vb3 or vb4 like your profile says? There is not the same additional CSS bit for you to add the CSS to in vB4, it would need to go somewhere different. Could you clarify where you put the CSS in vb4?
Also if it's for the website in your signature, it's giving a database error when I try to visit it so I can't see your site. |
