Help a coder do some basic stuff with images
Hello all,
As the title suggest I am more of a coder than a graphics guru so I need some guidance in relation to something that will no doubt be incredibly easy. This images: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/image..._40b-hover.png http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/image...wpost-left.png http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/image..._40b-hover.png Are some of the default buttons in VB4 I would like to change them so that it is a different colour, #7a0400 to be precise. How can I do this? EDIT: I am using Gimp as I do not have Photoshop. |

Many many thanks
Problem is, I need to do this to about 20 other images - so how do you do it? |
I think the easiest would be to edit the buttons you have. I would probably pull them into Photoshop and use the Hue and Saturation at the same levels for all of them.

I think what he's actually asking is "Where are these images stored?". In the vb4 default style they're stored in the /images/ folder, starting with /images/buttons/ but lots are in the other folders too.
Note that this is no small task, since every time you go to do an upgrade it will try to overwrite your custom files. You'll have to modify your upgrade process to take that into account. Or at least save all your custom buttons somewhere so you can re-overwrite after an upgrade. |

Does GimpShop have Actions and Batch processes? If so that would be the way to go about it. Actions record any steps you take while editing an image, and batch repeats a set of given Actions over multiple files. Toggling the Hue/Saturation is one way to get the color you want, and if it's possible in GimpShop, you can do a Color Overlay that's either set to Screen or adjust the Underlying Layer transparency of a given Layer. Like I said, I'm not sure what GimpShop does, but it does have some of those basic Photoshop features, maybe under different names.

Gahhh, I have spent the evening pulling my hair out with Gimp. Give me assembler code any day :)
Sooooooo, I am going to be really cheeky here - feel free to tell me to stick it.... Could somebody change these images: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/image...mall_hover.pnghttp://www.vbulletin.com/forum/image..._40b_hover.pnghttp://www.vbulletin.com/forum/image...-40b_hover.pnghttp://www.vbulletin.com/forum/image...-40b-hover.pnghttp://www.vbulletin.com/forum/image..._40b-hover.pnghttp://www.vbulletin.com/forum/image...lected_40b.pnghttp://www.vbulletin.com/forum/image..._40b-hover.pnghttp://www.vbulletin.com/forum/image.../add_hover.png |
