This hack will allow you to hide the ip''s in posts from the supermoderators. It will also allow you to prevent the Supermoderators from using the Search Ip Addresses option in ModCP.

You can enable and disable each option separately in the Acp.

I'm curious. Why would you want to do this? Under what circumstances would you want to prevent moderators from seeing IPs?

Several months ago in one of the forums that I adminster there was a fall out among the staff and a couple of SuperModerators went over to the competition and gave them all the ip information of our staff and members. Since then I decided to restrict the SuperModerators from viewing ips. I had coded that for another forum software and ported it to vB in case other admins will run into the same issue with their staff as well.

This is something that i need on one of my websites. The only people i want viewing IP's are admins. If im not mistaken though i think VB has this setting already under group permissions?

*EDIT - I double checked and yes, the option to disable viewing IP's is available in the usergroup permissions.

?t is not for viewing ip''s in posts but to view IP''s at the online list that option. Plus this disables it at the ModCP as well.

can you put this option also for the 'normal' moderators?

For the normal moderators you can choose at the permissions to view ips or not when assigning them to moderate forums.

In 4.1.1 the ip''s in posts still show? The modcp is fine ... :confused:
