I am making the transition from UBB to Vbulletin this week and I would like to add the private messaging hack to it.

I have it on my UBB now.

Any ideas on how to add it in vbulletin?

thanks

they are planning on adding this as a feature in the summer release, though I'm sure that won't stop an enterprizing hacker from coming up with b4 then:)

i'll add another vote of support for someone willing to work on this now. with or without cympm import support....very hard to move the board from ubb to vb if users are losing a core piece of functionality.

What I was considering doing was just adding a row into the forumhome template, with a link to the original PM system. That way everything looks the same, plus users can keep their outboxes, etc...

Just wanted to give you something to use until the hack or whatever gets made.

i thought of that...but new users won't have accounts on the old system

true, but at least the old users would have access to the PM's... you could put a disclaimer up there that it is only temporary.

I decided to just give my users the link to the PM login, so if they still wanted to use it they could.

Have you all just considered doing something like signing up with everyone.net or something to just give them a real email address? Seems this would be easier...

Everyone.net provides a good service, but it has the disadvantage of people having to log in under a different name since they refuse to allow the e-mail to integrate with on-site databases.
The thing about PM is that it lets people communicate on the site, keeps them on your board and increases your page views for ad revenue.

Yes, that is a good point.
