vBulleting 4.0 publishing suite mature enough yet?
 

Do you think that the 4.0 publishing suite is mature enough yet to be installed? I currently use minibb+wordpress but did pre-order the vBulletin publishing suite.

The 4.0.1 fixed 200 bugs and in the 4.0.2 release which is planned for February 4:th over 100 bugs will be fixed.

It is good that they fix so many bugs so quickly but it is a bit worrying that there seems to be many issues left to fix.

Would you recommend upgrading now from minibb+wordpress or would you recommend waiting a few months? Or maybe not upgrade at all and look at a different solution?

By the way is this site owned and operated by the vBulletin company or is it independent? Hmm, it says it is an official resource so I guess it's tied to the company..

This site is owned by vBulletin Solutions and it targets functionality and designs beyond the default vBulletin software package.

For discussions and questions regarding the default vBulletin features you should post on the main company website www.vbulletin.com/forum.

Please note that we are very open about the number of bugs (these also include usability issues) and the which bugs have been solved. Most of these bugs do not interfere greatly with the day to day operations of boards, or only apply to a specific setup. Most of these bugs are not clasified as severe.

In any case of a bug causing a security issue, a patch will be released immediatly.

Personally i would already migrate now and not wait any longer. Any production version released is considered stable enough to operate in a production version.

Personally, i'll probably wait till 4.0.3; mearly because I have so many mods/skins to port.

I'd say wait until after 4.0.2 is released since its due in two days. Theres no point doing an install then having to upgrade 2 days later :) I'd probably go live with 4.0.2 if I didn't have so much testing/converting to do first.

I wait at least 6 months before I upgrade my 3.8 site.

Every release fixes bugs. If your sitting around waiting for a version that fixes bugs once and for all, you'd be waiting indefinitely. Once a release is stable, that means that the main day to day function of the software is stable, the core functionality. Mostly what's being worked on now is minor issues that only affect forums who's main goal might be tied to that function. But core-wise, it's as good to go as it's ever going to be.

I think that issuing a new version is a solution to some problems with the previous version and that's how it is done

Please stop posting senseless posts. They will be removed just as your previous 5 posts. Continuing with this behaviour might result in an infraction or ultimatly a ban from our forums.

I think it must be tested before the version of the forums to solve their problems and thereby address the problem or any technical fault

since you're starting a new vbulletin forum i'd say go ahead and get started right now that vb 4.0.2 is out. there shouldn't be as many bugs to fix on 4.0.3 and the bugs fixed in 4.0.2 weren't anything that could have indangered a regular board in my opinion. even if you go live now with 4.0.2 you can always upgrade to 4.0.3 and later to 4.0.4+ without having to lose anything.

I wouldn't have a problem advising to use vBulletin4 over minibb, but there is no way I can sit here with a straight face and tell you to use vBulletin CMS over wordpress.
