using <%php as a value for input box, - Calendar select date [SOLVED]

couldnt figure out how to use the vbulletin calender as selection input
so i found this lovely java calender online

http://blog.davglass.com/files/yui/cal2/

and intend to use that,,

howewer i got one problem,,
in the template where i want it,, im haveing problem typeing the inputbox

Code:

<input type="text" name="cal1Date" id="cal1Date" autocomplete="off" size="35" value="<?php echo(($_GET['cal1Date']) ? urldecode($_GET['cal1Date']) : '') ?>" />
The value shows as content of the box instead of running the php.
also tryed replaceing the "" with ' ' just turned out all weird.. ;)

Any help would be appriciated.

Open to ideas, of anyone have other suggestion for date selection.

Also been playing a little with this, but naa the whole link thing,
http://www.mattkruse.com/javascript/calendarpopup/
is not great, other wise would have use exsample 2. ;)

--------------- Added [DATE]1264631764[/DATE] at [TIME]1264631764[/TIME] ---------------

tryed using this from the article creator..
but it does not create the img, you click on to select the date.

Code:

                <div class="twothirdsright"><input id="publishdate_datestring" class="numtxt" type="text" size="20" name="publishdate" value="{vb:date {vb:raw publishdate}, 'Y/m/d'}" tabindex="1" /></div>
        </div>

        <script type="text/javascript">
                <!--
                vBulletin.register_control("vB_DatePicker", "publishdate_datestring", "publishdate_", "1");
                //-->
        </script>

--------------- Added [DATE]1264632472[/DATE] at [TIME]1264632472[/TIME] ---------------

made the default vb date picker work, by adding the correct script in the template..

<script type="text/javascript" src="clientscript/vbulletin_date_picker.js?v=401"></script>
