Pull info from mediawiki and display as overlay
 
I'm running a combined vB and Mediawiki based gaming website and came across a great feature on another vB site.
Basically, this other site had a custom BB code which pulled information from a database site and displayed it as an overlay when you hovered your mouse over the link.
I was wondering if anyone would know how I could go about doing something like this, bearing in mind the software that I use, or if there is any software that I could use to help me to do.
