New to vB: How do I add something to all templates/styles?

So I was trying to add another link to Quick Links... but I don't get how this works.

If I add something right in the template, won't that only show up in one style?

So then I made a plugin for it. But that only adds it on one page...

edit: Do I do this by making all of my styles have the same parent?
