Show subforums?

Hello,

How can we show subforums on forum index please? This is driving me nuts. Even if I create subforums and assign them to a forum (unless I don't create them properly), they don't appear in the board index. They appear when we click on the forum they belong though.

vboptions > forum listing display options > depth of subforums
