Subscribe to forum - Instant New thread Email notification

How do I get this option back on vB 4.01????

Why is this not already in vB code?

Why would anyone want a daily or weekly email notification for new threads?

My users need instant email sent on all new threads posted in several forums on my site.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

I already tried the two 3.6 / 3.x add on mods but they do not add the option into the pull down options.

Agreed, we need this one badly. No clue why it's not included in a paying product. I've already offered some money to pay someone to update the old mod to do this.

since no one else has replied, i guess no one cares about this feature.

Sigh!

What are you talking about?

Go to yourforum.com/profile.php?do=editoptions and look at Default Thread Subscription Mode... instantly, using e-mail is an option...

see the attachment

This only works, if a) you start a new thread or post a reply.

Quote:

When you post a new thread, or reply to a topic, you can choose to automatically add that thread to your list of subscribed threads, with the option to receive email notification of new replies to that thread.

The mod / add on feature allows Instant Email on Every new thread that is started in the subscribed Forum!

Instant is not available for Forum Subscriptions.

There were add on mods that worked in vB 3.0 / 3.5 / 3.6 / 3.7 / 3.8.

But there is no mod yet for vB 4.0

we need one asap.

Hello,

Not sure if this is the same question, but can someone please tell me how as admin to automatically select "Instant Notification by Email" for every user?

I'm afraid my users won't know how to go in and select this and I'd like them to receive notice by default.

Thanks.

I think there's a SQL Query under Maintenance that will do this. But be careful for at least two reasons.
1) Too much email - especially unexpected emails - and a few of them will start marking it as spam, getting you blacklisted.
2) Servers (especially shared) have severe email limits, after which odd things can happen like dropped emails - much more important emails.

I absolutely NEED this ability as well. I also have a Yahoo Group and am getting ready to transfer them over to a Message Forum format. The group is a "stock tips" site for fellow investors to share ideas quickly ... and to discuss these ideas on a forum. They are quite excited about moving to a message forum.

HOWEVER ... and this is a BIG one ... they MUST have the OPTION to subscribe to FORUMS ... not just to threads. Reason being is that the "threads" will be the individual "stock picks" ... and they would never know to subscribe to something that is NEW. It's critical that they be alerted immediately.

This is a real shame ... because I spent all this time setting up a vBulletin site ... only to find out that this function doesn't exist here ... but it DOES exist with the FREE phpBB forums. I am quite upset by this as it now feels like I wasted over $300 with the license and server costs.
