Upcoming events in sidebar??

How can I get the upcoming events to load into the sidebar?

I'm currently using the sidebar mod here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?p=1954407

I think I need to make the $upcommingevents variable a global variable, but I don't know how to do that and then what the proper syntax is to call that function.

any help is greatly appreciated.
