Rebuilding Search Index
I'm reading how on big boards(over a million posts) this process will stall after half a day or so.
Has anyone with a big board successfully run this rebuilding in a short period of time? Thanks in advance |
Define short period of time? I trimmed my test site down to just over 800K posts and I think rebuilding thread info took about an hour and rebuilding the search indexes took a few hours (three or four? I can't remember now). I think I saw someone else say their 1M post site took about 7 hours. I think it really depends on your server. Mine did not stall in the middle.

Thanks for the answer Lynne. I won't be upgrading as I've 2 million posts.
Money well spent:rolleyes::D |
I had about 554K posts when I did mine and it took under 2 hours. I have a good server though and didn't have any problems.

i have a 5M message, 10 years old forum it never finish in one time...:)
|
I had to rebuild my search index after upgrading to 4.0 it took 2 to 3 hours for about 450,000 posts.
|
After i did the migration to 4.0 the Search will only show from the day on the migration on...
Don't want to hijack the thread but is perfect so i don't have to open another one, any way to fix that? I use the search a lot and my site has a good 5 years of threads, if it pulls out a year i will be happy. |

How long did the rebuilding take?
I haven't done a lot of testing but so far search doesn't seem right to me - I prefer the search on vb.org to .com |
