Database integration with VB4?

We're hoping to upgrade our video collector's site to VB4 Publishing Suite within the next few months.

What we'd like to be able to offer our members is the ability to sign in and, using our current video databases, create a list of the titles in their collections which would then be viewable by other members.

Will this be possible in some way? And does anybody see any potential problems with importing our two separate movie databases into VB4 Publishing Suite?

I'm in no way knowledgeable about mods or php so I thought it best to ask here first. ;)

Can anybody offer any advice on this please?

Sounds like it would require a lot of custom coding. You would want something like a paginated, alphabetized, searchable table, and it would need checkboxes to add a title to a user's collection. Almost sounds more like a shopping cart.
You can't really "import databases" into vb4, or any other forum. But there are a lot of strange modifications around here; look around, you may find something close to what you need.

I guess it is a sort of shopping cart, but without the actual checkout. I'm hoping this will be possible - otherwise it's back to Drupal.

Drupal doesn't do this by default? Is it an add-on that does it? Of course, if you don't want/need all that functionality you can just publish the list to an html page or google doc and people could see it.

It's easy to set up in Drupal - the reason I don't wanna go that route is because of the vBulletin integration, which hasn't always been easy with vbDrupal.

I want something that users can easily add or delete from, that means in needs to be something that's built in to the CMS. I sure hope al lot of useful mods come along!

Do you have an example somewhere in Drupal? Maybe I'm just not picturing correctly what you want to do.
