Is there a way to have it show the threads started under the total posts and otehr stuff when you make a post?

I tried entering the info into the postbit template, but it didn't work...

Can someone help? this is what i put...

Threads Started: $starts

But that didnt work.. I knwo this is an easy one, but I can't figure it out..
