Is attachment function a hack? If so where may it be found.

Can it handle multiple files in different formats, even if uploaded individually?

Yes, multiple file formats are acceptable. These are determined through options in the Admin CP. However note that each message can only contain one attachment.

I read by your reply the attachment function is a built-in feature. If so, I do not see this great feature in any of the Intro / Features documentation.
