Image verification - not working

I tried registering a test account and the captcha /
image verification does not show any characters, just a blank box with the background
colors but no numbers/letters.

See attached screenshot of the problem I am having

vBulletin 4 BETA 5 Suite
PHP Version 5.2.11

What do I need to do to fix this?

Go to Settings > Human Verification Manager and see what is in the box under Image Verification Library. You should select an option that shows an image there:
