[AntiRip] Image Theft Prevention bb code

1 Attachment(s)
Anti Rip BB Code by: Canadians360

Purpose: Do you have problems with others stealing images from the members of your site? Tired of other people taking credit for your members work? Well this code is created to make image ripping/theft a massive pain if not impossible for most image rippers. It does this without ugly water marks or modifying images with anti rip text, nor does it ping obnoxious and faulty no right click messages. It is not 100% fool proof as no image theft measures are but with so many image forums out there it will be enough to drive off a majority of image rippers since as a trait they are generally lazy and would rather simply find other images to steal than constantly working more to get at yours.

With this code the image will show clearly and you will be able to relax knowing that you'll have less image thefts on your hands to worry about.

Title: Anti Rip
BB Code Tag Name: AntiRip
Replacement:
Code:

<div style="margin:20px; margin-top:5px; background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position:center; background-image: url({param})">
<IMG SRC="clear.gif" HEIGHT="{option}" width="100%" BORDER="0">
</div>

Example: [AntiRip=66]http://www.forgeryaid.com/forum/cpstyles/vBulletin_3_Silver/cp_logo.gif[/AntiRip]

Description: A bb code to prevent your images from being stolen and/or ripped. the code is used [AntiRip=*Your Images Height*]*Your Images URL*[/AntiRip] If you would like to prevent other members from using your image as well you will want to wrap the AntiRip bb code in quote tags.

Use {option}: Yes
Remove Tag If Empty: Yes
Disable BB Code Within This BB Code: Yes
Disable Smilies Within This BB Code: Yes
Disable Word Wrapping Within This BB Code: No

Now this was created to prevent guest ripping only but as long as you wrap this code in quote tags, the image will be safe from other members as well.

Example: [quote][AntiRip=66]http://www.forgeryaid.com/forum/cpstyles/vBulletin_3_Silver/cp_logo.gif[/AntiRip][/quote]

So what happens when you try to copy, save, or view the image?

You get a lovely blank transparent image instead.

Sadly not foolproof but a great effort none the less!!

As stated I am aware of this. If you have any ideas on how to improve it let me know. Its still a rather large pain to steal and most rippers would rather just go find another image forum.

Heres one idea but it might be either very hard or impossible to implement into your code and perhaps not worth the effort, but if used it would reduce if not eliminate the problem

How would this effect Search Engines, with regard to them listing them in their "Images" Search?

Will it effect it at all?

Canadians360 12-06-2009 10:58 PM

Im not entirely sure. If you have a search engine optimizer that incorporates the images via pictures in image tags it may, but I am unsure, otherwise I would highly doubt it. Im not to familiar with how search engines pick up their relevant images, but its an image with a url inside a post which I believe would be picked up whether it is a standard image or one inside this code. But I think it would be better to ask someone with more experience on the matter.

Nice, I've wanted something like this for quite some time now! I'll have to install this later.

I don't think this would have any impact on search engines.
However, I also don't think this could prevent anything... perhaps only make a thing a bit more difficult for lazy one thieves. :)
