Renewing A License

I am a noob.

Some reason, I can't seem to renew my license to upgrade to 3.8.x. I am using 3.7.x and the ONLY option I am getting is the vB 4.x.x

I log into my member area and click on "Renewals / New Purchases" and it's taking me to the page to get vB 4.

Is there a new link to upgrade? Or, is there a reason to it?

Nope they are doing away with the old licensing scheme and the only option is the new. You don't need to update your site to vb4 but you still pay that price.

To make it clear... There is no way for me to upgrade to 3.8? If so, *sigh* what's going on? Why are they making poor choices? I understand that they wish to focus on vB 4, but, it's on BETA...I want to upgrade to 3.8.x for security purpose.

I remember the upgrade was really cheap..Now, I have to spend 195 bucks to obtain a new license and hopefully to obtain the previous version.

Surely, the price might go up pretty soon.

3.8 is in the download section. If you dont see it, you need to buy a new license. Only way.

You will also get vb.4.0 forever for that price so its a good deal.

Correct pay the price for vb4 and get vb3.8 if that floats your boat.

What do you mean forever? I will only have a one year free upgrade. Yes, I will be able to run vB4 forever, but, still. An upgrade for 175 or so is still expensive.

Every 4.x update will be free. When 5.0 comes out you must renew then to get 5.0 software. There is no only one year.

Questions regarding default vBulletin functionality or licensing and pricing should be asked on the Official company website

Thanks for your input. But, I think some people in here have the answer. Sometimes, vBulletin.com takes forever for a reply than vBulletin.org.

Charlie:
So, let say in 2010, they release 4.0.0 Gold and 2011, we're on 4.6.x. I don't have to worry about me renewing it? If so, then I wouldn't mind getting a new license till vB 5 releases.

Brooks is correct. Please read the announcement here - Discussions on vBulletin 4 and licensing
