Display Names?
 

Is it possible that my users can choose there own display name? Meaning it isn't there username?

E.g i sign up her with the username betty02 but i want to be displayed as SimonB would that be possible?

You set up a user profile field for them to enter their display name, then you go through the templates and replace the username with the display name. Or, you may be able to write a couple of plugins to switch out the username with the display name. But, there is NOT some vb option to do this; you will need to either change templates or write plugins in order to do this.
