Mods and mysql

Do Mods require updating the mysql database or need an additional mysql database?

I ask for 2 reasons. Firstly, my current host only allows one mysql database per account. Secondly, I worry about it updating my existing vbulletin mysql database, especially considering I will upgrade soonish to VB4.

It depends on the modification. Some will add stuff to the database, some will just query the database, and some don't touch the database at all. They are all different.
