Recovering post before edit?

Myself and a few of my mods have edited a members post instead of quoting it, and I was curious if there was a way to recover those posts?

You can look at the post history by clicking the "Last edited by.." text.. or if that's not there go to: yourforum.com/posthistory.php?p=POSTID

thats not working for me :(

you must have a selection that keeps a history of changes checked. I do not know exactly were this is, but I assume it is necessary for what you are asking.

I have checked and its checked :) I just can't recover the post, the "Posthistory.php" is in my root directory, I am looking at it now, it just isn't working.

I have that checked for Yes.

It seems that The edited by must be shown in order to manege or see changes, I edited on post that I did not leave a reason, and since my permissions are set to not show the edited by, there was no edited by link to click and manage the old versions.

Unlike a soft delete that has a manege button.

so if you do not have the edited by you may not be agble to recover.

Edit by is on, never messed with turning that off :) but still not working.

Not currently. Well, not without making direct table changes.

You can view the post history, and compare user edits to see what changes were made, but you can't revert or restore a previous version of it from the forum page.

There is a mod here that I believe offers this functionality ... I'm about to try it myself as I want the ability to revert edited posts after members flounce off and edit/destroy posts on their way out!

Cheers,
Shaun :D

I know this is no help for your immediate problem but for future reference use the "Report Post" function before you edit the post. If it all goes badly you have a copy of the pre-edit post quoted in your Reported Posts folder that you can copy and paste to restore the original content to the post.
