Postbit customizations applied to PM postbit?

I've added some custom data to my postbit template. This data does not show up on the PM postbit template. What is the standard procedure to make that happen in 3.8.x?

If you are using variables in the postbit and they aren't showing up, then you need to make sure that they are available for use on the PM page (add them to the userinfo query?).
