1 licence, 2 installations, running 1

I was wondering if it was possible to install on 2 different servers my installation, since then in the customer area on vbulletin.com you have to place the url of where vbulletin is to make it work, I was thinking of having a mirror of my forum on another server, and in case of crash of the main one, go on vbulletin.com and switch the installation url path to the emrgency one.. basically I will install it twice, but onnly running one instance of it on one server at time. should comply with agreement uh??
Thanks for any hint!

You may only have one instance of vBulletin (per license) running on one server. If, however, you needed an emergency backup, you could have the files for vBulletin stored safely, and upload them to the other server if the other crashed (as long as you changed the information on vBulletin.com).

I see no difference in having them alreay stored for backup on another server, and activate it from vbulletin.com in case of emergecy.. always one instance will run, always on one server..

I'm not sure about having it installed on another server, if you uploaded the files and never renamed config.php.new, you may be able to, but I don't believe it can be installed on 2 servers.

The idea is to mirror from the working server to the backup one, DB, attachments, everything.. and in case, switch over.. let's see if any person at Jelsoft can give us some hints.. :)

From what I've read in many experienced vBulletin people posts - you can set up another instance as long as its password protected and not available to the general public and is only for testing purposes only. Guess you can switch it to live whenever you have an issue.

yep, I saw that, but it has to be in a specific folder, named in specific way and as you said, password protected. I want this to be on another server, with another domain name, and activate it only in case of emergency by switching the setup on vbulletin.com

Well they can't stop you. Or prove it. So I would.
