Disabling Guest link access..

I'm a VB Noob. I just got my board up and running and I was wondering is it possible to diable links for vistors and guest in the treads? If so what permissions will I have to modify?

If you mean you would like to disable them from posting links, have a look here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=133826

Or search the forums for "Restrict URLs" or something similar.

Thank you for your reply, sometimes i have a hard time communicating my thoughts. I do not want vistors to be able to come to my site and go through threads and be able to access the links posted in the threads. I weant to give them access to the threads but not the links that members post. Is this doable?

What i mean by access is:

i don't want them to be able to click on a link in the thread and get the file from the link unless they are a registered member. We have some OTA files on my site and I see vistors are coming in and taking off after downloading what they want without registering. I'm giving away the files to gain members. I want them to see what is offered without being able to d/l them.

Not much that I know you can do about links...but if you are referring to attachments that users upload to the site, then you can set the Can Download Attachments permission to No under the Forum Viewing Permissions for the Unregistered/Not Logged In Usergroup.

Well thanks for the help. I have a blackberry site and we produce themes with OTA links that allow the members to d/l them. Guest are coming through d/l'ing and taking off without registering. Just wanted a way to force registration without having to make thread content unavailible to them...

If you don't want to make the thread content available, but allow them to see the forum with the threads listed, you can set the Can View Thread Content to No for that usergroup. This will prevent them from viewing anything in the thread, however.
