Change encoding of whole vB forum - how to?
Hi.
Does anybody knows how to change encoding for whole vB forum? |
admincp > languages and phrases > language manager > edit settings > html character set
|
Thanks - and will it re encode also data stored in DB??
|
no that's just for the meta tag.
|
So what to do to re-encode full forum? Does changing encoding in mySQL affects already existing data?
|
you set the charset when creating the database. Then if that charset is different from the default connection charset (latin1) then you change that in your config.php file (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/ -> Installing vBulletin -> Editing the vbulletin configuration file).
I think it would affect the existing data if you changed the charset of a populated database but I'm not 100%. |
ON other forum I get this: http://www.vcharset.com/
Didn't use yet (other things to do first) but I think it can help :) |
neat tool. Hope that helps. GL.

Hello NLP-er .
be careful when you are using the vCharSet , you need to do it in your own server , because it need high resource and you need to have a long timeouts , and many many many things be sure to take an backup . Thanks , Zi5 |
Thanks for warning. Anyway - if vB Enterprise Translator have to manage multi language communities - forum must be in utf-8...
