Changing external links format?
Hi all
my first question on the board, I hope it is in the right forum. I have just setup my own vb forum, and over the last few days I found almost all of the answers to my problems on the forum. However, this one has me stumped, maybe because I don't know what the right "term" is for what I am looking for. https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2009/09/6.jpg On some forums, when a member posts a link (2) to an external source in their post the URL is automatically changed into a description (1) (presumably from some data from that website). How does one go about setting that up. Is it something in VB itself, or in vbadvanced? Or is there a hack? BTW I know that one can do this manually for each link by using the "insert link" button in the message box, but some forums seem to have an automatic facility. cheers CF |
I think vbseo does it, but there is a mod here that will change thread links to thread titles. I can't remember what it's called though. Here's one - you can try using some of these key words in a search if you want to find others - Replace URL's With Page Title

Hi Lynne
that's excellent - just what I needed. The mod seems to be working great, though it doesn't work retrospectively (not a big problem as I've only been "live" for 4 days :) ) Thanks for your help CF |
