Changing external links format?
 

Hi all

my first question on the board, I hope it is in the right forum. I have just setup my own vb forum, and over the last few days I found almost all of the answers to my problems on the forum.

However, this one has me stumped, maybe because I don't know what the right "term" is for what I am looking for.

On some forums, when a member posts a link (2) to an external source in their post the URL is automatically changed into a description (1) (presumably from some data from that website).

How does one go about setting that up. Is it something in VB itself, or in vbadvanced? Or is there a hack?

BTW I know that one can do this manually for each link by using the "insert link" button in the message box, but some forums seem to have an automatic facility.

I think vbseo does it, but there is a mod here that will change thread links to thread titles. I can't remember what it's called though. Here's one - you can try using some of these key words in a search if you want to find others - Replace URL's With Page Title

that's excellent - just what I needed. The mod seems to be working great, though it doesn't work retrospectively (not a big problem as I've only been "live" for 4 days :) )
