Paid Subscriptions

Ok we have never had or setup paid subscriptions.

However have decided the forum is big enough now, to accomodate this.

What is the idiots guide to setting this up.

We have normal usergroups setup verbatum by vb, + some extra user groups, such as Managers Manageresses and Inactive etc.

So what do we do, and how do we do it please.

We are looking at re-evaluating permissions for registered users, but had thought, we would run a thread for 30 days, allowing existing registered users to apply for a free transfer to our paid subscriptions.

Essentially, issue members with a voucher of sorts, to allow them to apply for a free account upgrade for one year whereby they appear as a paid subscriber.

Any members registered or otherwise, who aint on this , will have to pay to enhance their forum thingymajig, or else stay as is, with limited usability..

Is this kinda making sense ?

< really havent got a clue, so any help appreciated, however dont wanna upset existing members who have remained with us daily from day one.

I've always done this:

Create a Premium / Subscriber usergroup that has extra priviledges. I usually create some plugins to jack up their features and remove/lower some of the limitations (time between posts, max number of images, etc.)

On top of that, give them a shiny title to show off, and access to a private forum.

I'd avoid removing any permissions you have on the current registered group. Members generally don't like that, and see problems paying to get something they used to get for free. Instead, give them additional features, and treat it more like a recurring donation + recognition for being kind enough to donate.

Cheers Sir

Will give this a go. That was a primary concern of mine, that we may upset some of our regular members by introducing this
