Question for Private Messaging

We want to enable private messaging for one certain usergroup. The only way I can see to do it, is to enable private messaging for the entire membership, and then go turn it off for everyone who doesn't use it.

Is there an easy way to enable for just one usergroup? Any help would be appreciated.

Bumping up. I searched on these forums, and couldn't find an answer to my question. Help Please?

I thought this could be done in the usergroup permissions

It can be. Look in the Usergroup Manager > find your usergroup > Private Messaging Options > Maximum Stored Messages

Maximum Stored Messages:
If you set this to 0 users from this usergroup will not be able to use private messaging.

or use cybs 'advanced forum permissions' found on here.

Do we have to enable private messages for the entire membership first? I tried the way the way that was suggested, and it didn't enable anything. It said it did, but nothing has shown up.

Confused.

Users must also enable it in their User CP > Edit Options > Receive Private Messages

Thank you very much! I knew there had to be a way to be a way to do this!

It does say that is enabled, but the option for PM's do not show.

Now, really confused.

Where doesn't it show? And what do you have set for Maximum Stored Messages for that usergroup?

msworld 09-17-2009 06:07 PM

It doesn't show on the main message board. I have it enabled in my profile, but it isn't showing on the message board.

I think its 5000. Sorry to be a little thick, but that is characters, not actual messages, correct?
