Forum Hacked

Hello

My Forum Has Been Hacked Some How

I Really Have No Idea.....

They Have Deleted My Sections And All Of Threads

My Hosting Are Telling Me That They Cant Restore The Data...

Is There Any Other Way I Can Get My Forum Back..:mad:

Lynne 09-07-2009 09:55 PM

The only way to get it back is if you have a backup of the database. Do you?

creative-friend 09-07-2009 09:58 PM

No My hosting take all the backups but they said they cant restore it
can i not take the database backup of yesterday or something?

Lynne 09-07-2009 10:00 PM

Yes, you may use a database backup from yesterday. You won't have the posts from today, but that is better than having nothing.

If you do not already have the backup and your host does not have it, then your at the end of the road.

If you do have the backup, you need to import it into your DB via biggdump, commandline or something of the sort.

Without a backup, all you can do is install the software again and start over.

You should never rely on your hosting provider to create backups for you. They are more concerned about backing up your server and not your site. So while they could do a full restore of the server itself, they can't just restore your site. You need to make periodic backups of your data to keep it safe.

Wish the answer was different but not really much more anyone can do.

i really dont know what to do
i just done the S.E.O for my forum and started getting new members.....but i neva know that

Did they say why they can't restore the backup? Is it because they don't have one either? You seriously have no backup at all of your database that you made before an upgrade or something?
