Changing the smiley "Text to Replace"
 
Quick question about changing smiley "Text to Replace" text. If I change them in ADMINCP, will all the old icons with that text show up as text now, or will vBulletin automatically take care of this and rename the old smileys with that text and update it to the new one in old posts?

The old ones will show up as text.

A mod? Not that I know of. You may be able to write a query to do it, but I know when I've changed them, I just let it be.
