Changing the width of a column . . .

1 Attachment(s)
I would like to change the width of the "Last Post" column on the leading edge by about 20 or 30 pixels. I'm finding if the user has a ID name of more than 5 or 6 characters the date and ID run into each other causing the whole Forum listing to be wider and I want to stop that. I've attached a screenshot of it.

I have looked at css settings, templates and I just can't seem to find the place to make this change? Does anyone know, thanks

Change the width in the template that has the title "Last Post". To find the template to modify, do this - vboptions > General Settings > Add Template Name in HTML Comments > set to Yes . Then go back to your page and view the source code and you will see the name of the template called around your part of the code.

I did what you said and where it lead me was to forumhome_lastpostby template, but no references that I could recognize that set the position or size? But thanks

Then you are looking at the wrong area in the source code. The template should be something like forumhome_forumbit_level* (maybe forumhome_forumbit_level1_nopost ?).

OK . . . I looked in those templates and I see allot of references to LastPost, but I see no references to size or position. I've learned allot and do most of the changes myself, but this one might be a bit much for my experience . . . Unless I was able to find out exactly where to go . . . don't think I'll find it.

But thanks - learning a little more everyday

I know there is no reference to the size because by default it just does whatever it wants. If you want it larger, you need to set the width:

HTML Code:

<td class="thead" width="25%">$vbphrase[last_post]</td>
Set to whatever you want. If the other columns have widths set, you can modify them also.

OK . . . did a little looking at the source code on the main page and then I found another website that had the width the way I want mine. Here is what I believe to be the pertinent code and how I want to set it.

<tr align="center">
<td class="thead" width="5%">&nbsp;</td>
<td class="thead" width="60%" align="left">Forum</td>
<td class="thead" width="25%">Last Post</td>
<td class="thead" width="5%">Threads</td>
<td class="thead" width="5%">Posts</td>

If you notice the width percentage added to each section. OK, next below is my site the way it is now, no percentages. So if I add that it should force the change, but I can't find the location of this code? I searched on template search and nothing showed up? As you see the previous template ended and no template starts, just <!-- main --> Where is that??

<!-- END TEMPLATE: navbar -->

<!-- main -->

<tr align="center">
<td class="thead">&nbsp;</td>
<td class="thead" width="100%" align="left">Forum</td>
<td class="thead">Last Post</td>
<td class="thead">Threads</td>
<td class="thead">Posts</td>

You can try a Search in Templates for <!-- main --> and it should show up. It may also be the template named at the very top of the page.

Aha . . . found that code in FORUMHOME and after playing around with the percentages a bit, I got it perfect. Thanks for working me through it.
