Importing mailing list to fresh vBulletin
I have a large mailing list archive (several thousand messages) which I want to import to my clean VB forum. These should all go into a subforum, which will then be locked but searchable.
This is to help get the migration from a mailing list to a web forum kickstarted: when folks show up, there will already be a nice stash of searchable history to view. I'm not terribly concerned about maintaining threading, but all the data necessary to do so (Message ID headers, related-to and such) are already in there. A flat one message = one post import is fine, too. I do NOT want to import users: having all the threads created by an "archived-message@example.com" user is fine. I have Impex, but there's not any module for this type of import. Has anyone out there done this? If there was a way to import out of an IMAP or POP3 mailbox, that would nail it perfectly. I have all the list archived in a mailbox, one message = one plain text MIME-encoded file with all headers. Anyone? Help! |
You can use ImpEx as framework, but you will need to write your own import modules.
