How can I find out if a thread is a child of a certain forum

I'm trying to to modify showthread.php to decide whether or not the thread in question is a child of a forum with the id of 9 (the thread might be 1 or 2 layers deep within that forum). Ultimately I want to have it load a seperate template if it is. Is there an easy way of doing this?
